We use them every day of our lives, but now we can adorn ourselves with them: the humble alphabet. How would we do the crossword? Texting? All great uses for letters. Until now.

Wooden Letter Blocks Ring by Glamour Twinkles Jewelry

Wooden Letter Blocks Ring: created with the idea of children’s letter blocks. I know they’re only small letters and don’t exactly bring toy blocks to mind but that was my thinking as soon as I saw the bag of beads sitting in the bead shop.

Alphabet Necklace by Glamour Twinkles Jewelry

Alphabet Rainbow Necklace: I so badly wanted to call these Sesame Street Necklaces. But I didn’t want the wrath of CBS or NBC or whoever brings us the letter T and the number 5. A few years ago a school painted an old toilet block, to brighten it up. They used a terrible looking reproduction of Donald Duck. SOmehow Disney found out and demanded the remove it. Donald has gone. I don’t want Glamour Twinkles to go out like Donald Duck did.

Pink Purple Green ABC Alphabet Earrings by Glamour Twinkles Jewelry

These are my ABC Earrings. They’re bright and colourful and lightweight. I just didn’t have enough ABC’s to make a big bunch of earrings so I started doing EFG earrings as well.

With Alphabet Jewelry you will never be lost for words.

Welcome back to Wednesday’s Behind the Twinkle post, featuring my latest Etsy shop listing – Brown Rosery with White Cloisonné Cross Necklace

Brown Rosery with White Cloisonné Cross - by Glamour Twinkles Jewelry

I love rosaries.  I love the Y-style design, the pretty crystals, the ornate crosses, everything about them.  However, I’m not Catholic, and I do feel a little bit guilty calling my latest listings “rosaries”.  (Huh, guilt = Catholic, sorry I couldn’t resist) So I’ve called them Rosery – the Rosery That Isn’t a Rosary.  As a listing title that is quite a mouthful – and somewhat unnecessary.  I’ve tossed and turned over the description for these pieces, and I have around 6 or 7 of them sitting in their sealed plastic baggies waiting for a good home – or neck, as the case may be.  But these Rosery’s look so pretty and are a good seller at the craft shows I’ve attended. Just think of the fantastic little story you can tell your friends when you buy this pretty little trinket.  But don’t show your children the unintentionally topless mannequin shot.  It was the only way to show you the length of the necklace. I gotta do what I gotta do.

Remember those drunken new years resolutions we all made 2 weeks ago? No? Well, this little twinkle remembers and is unveiling one of them now. I present to you my new regular Wednesday post: Behind the Twinkle. See, fulfilled my NYE resolution to do more with my blog.

Latest Listing – Behind the Twinkle

Light Blue Gothic Pagoda Earrings - available now on my Etsy shop

Light Blue Lampwork Gothic Pagoda Earrings

Remember when Jim Carrey did a serious movie and no one liked it? That’s how I’m feeling about the serious nature of this listing description. Where’s my trade mark hilarity? I just really wanted to add them to my shop, something to show for all the behind the scenes work that goes into listings. The mannequin photo shows the earrings at their realistic best but I’ve got plenty of other photos to fill up the rest of the picture boxes – Price US$22.

Red Gothic Pagoda Earrings - now available from my Etsy shop

Red Rosebud Gothic Pagoda Earrings

Ten points if you noticed that this description is virtually the same as the Light Blue Gothic Pagoda Earrings – sans Jim Carrey-like humour. I’m sure Jim C shops at Etsy – Price US$22.

Unbelievable things have been happening in Casa de Twinke, readers.  Yesterday I passed up my regular run on the spot/workout to …. wait for it… VACUUM MY APARTMENT.  Oh, yeah, its rock and roll!  I’m not a very regular vacuumer.  I don’t think it’s beneath me, I’m just really lazy when it comes to doing things that I hate.

Sparkle Workstation - look at those bright necklaces.... wondering what they are?

While vacuuming I decided it was high time to renovate my work space.  My work area consists of a long coffee table festooned with dinky little containers filled with all sorts of twinkly charms, pendants, and beads.

Sparkle Workstation - shiny containers of sparkling treats

I washed the table, cleaned and dusted every container, drawer and bead receptacle I own.  I brought out the shiny shine in everything.  Temp Cat came in looking somewhat bewildered once the loud scary vacuum had been safely tucked away.

Sparkle Workstation - more storage of sparkle

Sparkle Workstation - yep, more stuff and look, business books ahoy!

The upshot is that I didn’t get a lot of new exciting jewelry made this weekend but I did finish off the rest of my colourful budget priced necklaces. They were good sellers at Thorndon Fair.  You get a sneaky peak at the Tropical Necklaces right here before I load them up on Etsy and Trade Me.

I’ve got a bunch of activities planned for my Xmas holiday break, all Glamour Twinkles Jewelry related, natch.  I’ve decided to put a concerted effort into meshing my various online social media applications.  For example, (SPOILER ALERT) I’m about to announce on Facebook that I’m planning on making a Glamour Twinkles Jewelry advertising video.  I’ll be busy shooting, editing, directing and producing all by myself.  Meshing together my Facebook/Twitter/You Tube/Etsy and this blog all in one technological treat.  I have no idea how the vid will turn out but it’s kind of fun coming up with ideas for it. Yay me, right?

Welcome to another quickie post. I’ve been a very busy bee this past weekend. I’ve been working on my Etsy shop, getting witty quips into my newest listings which are all waiting to be loaded for your perusal and/or purchase (no pressure). I’m still working on all the darn photos I shot a couple of weeks ago and I’ve somehow managed to enter 12 new items into my Draft Listings list. All they need are their respective photographs and they will be sent on their cyberpath way. I plan to load something every day.

I thought it only fitting to post this via my iPhone and associated WordPress app, since Steve Jobs has slipped this mortal coil. I remember using my very first Apple Mac over 20 years ago. I loved that pc so much. Years later I would purchase my first iPod. Unfortunately I didn’t own any CDs and had to wait until the next day to get a bunch of library CDs to load on my latest gadget.

These photos are courtesy of the Pixlromatic photo app. I figured some revamped photos of my jewelry are the perfect accompaniment to this post.

This week’s lessons concerned appropriate tag utilization, co-efficient Twitter application … and writing all corporate-like (quirk point alert).
I’ve been merrily updating listings all over my shop, armed with my newly acquired SEO knowledge. Those little search engine spiders are welcome to crawl all over Glamour Twinkles, thank you very much.
I’ve learned that it’s far more effective to Tweet links to shop sections instead of tweeting an individual items. I now know that tweeting the full link to photos enables that picture to show up in the Twitter feed (or is that stream?). That is something I did not know.
And the last two business booky-wooks arrived this past week: Craft Inc. Business Planner – which is full of “actionable items”!! Note sarcastic tone. But seriously, folks – I’ll do stuff I promise. It’s just that the How to make Money on Etsy book is just so great!

And, The Handmade Marketplace arrived packed full of more great tips and information. Looking forward to reading through that little baby!

Incey-wincey Necklaces
A long while ago, my sister wore a silver necklace that had a tiny, little apple charm on it. I. Was. In. Love. If you’ve ever checked out Glamour Twinkles on Facebook or Etsy, you’ll know that I’m rather partial to the hugey-woogey sized jewelry but in the back of my mind I kind of wanted an incey wincey necklace. And now I have a bunch of them. I’m going to test drive these tiny bad boys this week and see if they sit properly throughout the day. Why, you ask? Well, the charm is virtually weightless and the clasp is more weighty so the necklace will probably move around eventually bringing the clasp to the front. Not good. I’ll see if my assumption is correct and then work on my little necklaces to stop them from doing “the necklace twist”. I’ll report back to you next Sunday.

Have a merry Xmas everyone…(quirk humour alert – like you needed one)…

Incey Wincey II Necklaces by Glamour Twinkles

My new book finally arrived on Thursday. Called “How to Make Money Using Etsy” by Timothy Adam, it has proved to be a valuable tool. I started reading it on Thursday and, being someone who wants to run before they can crawl, I flicked through it’s nuggety gems of tips and information hidden in the back of the book. It is packed with great info. For example, I had no idea what Search Engine Optimisation actually meant until I went through the step by step process. I’m starting from scratch, learning the absolute basics even though I have already set up my shop – see running before crawling ode above, especially when I would rather play with sparkling beads and have new jewelry rather than sitting down and actually writing constructive and searchable descriptions on her EtsyEtsy pages/items. In keeping with my educative weekend I learned how to constructively do the following:
a) perform a Google Keyword Search
b) Etsy have a “Kiss and Make Up” option for unhappy customers
c) How to make an item into a Featured Item (and it costs me nothing)
d) How I can copy all my sold orders into a coma separated value file. I didn’t even know that existed!

My latest creation is a necklace that I am embarrassed to say is based on the necklace Jennifer Love Hewitt wears in “I Know What You Did Last Summer”. It’s also inspired by NostalgemsNostalgems jewelry. I made it using my favorite patina crosses. I love leather necklaces. They get better with age. They really are like a second skin, if I was a cow. Or where ever the leather ties come from. The leather necklace accompaniment is two-strand patina chain skull and cross bones charm necklace and coin charm necklace. This pirate-based design brings together the pirate’s trade mark skull ‘n crossbones with silver coins, so they lend themselves to each other. My sis sent over the crazy looking grinning clown skull bead. I don’t know if that is it’s actual description but they remind me of a clown’s grinning skull – you know, because I come across them so often.

Glamour Twinkles will soon be available from FeltFelt. I signed us up yesterday. But I found, to my slight bafflement, that I can’t use more than 12 characters for my shop name. So I’ll be “glamourt”, which isn’t actually my business name. Not that I’m complaining. I did agree to abide by the rules and it’s a new experience for me and all’s fair in love and internet and so forth. But your shop name is such an important thing so the 12 character thing is just a smidge odd, that’s all. But the positives of being on Felt FAR outweigh the negatives so I’m seeing it through.

In other glamourt (sic) news, I’ve redone my hair colour in celebration of wearing one my newly crafted necklaces. Those of you playing along at home will recall the introduction of my Suffragette Necklace in Sunday’s blog. Well, here it is in action on the front line of today’s blog. I like the tangled chains look I’ve given it. It has turned out exactly as I pictured it in my mind. Nicely done.

Hello, goslings! I’m feeling rather chipper right now. Any of you who follow my Twitter feed were probably deeply concerned at the mention of the “funk” I was in all week but that has abated thanks to the purchase of three crafty business books all ordered through my new friends at Fishpond. The books should be winging their merry way to my mansion in a couple of weeks. It’s a continuation of the great info I gleaned from the Handmade workshops I attended a couple of weeks ago. They’re alleged to contain magical gems of information thusby allowing me to get a Glamour Twinkle on every man, woman and child in the entire universe. I’m being realistic, after all, we are in a recession. But I think it’s safe to say that I will be a millionaire by the end of this year. If this is the first time you are reading my blog please visit the About page – lest you think me serious. So, back to my regular readers, I’ve been busy creating a couple of jeweleriffic pieces for myself.

I finished off the Voodoo Necklace, an accompaniment to the Voodoo Earrings last seen in my Cursed Earrings post. I finally finished my Suffragette Necklace from a while ago.  And, after I sorted through my many, many charms in the big sort out that I had last week, I found this pretty little brown flower that sis got me in UK and threw together the Daisy Chain Necklace with faux pearls.

Trying to get a clear shot of these Voodoo Earrings took the longest time today. I could not get my jolly iPhone to take a non-blurry photo of the intricacies of my newest creations. The necklace was a gift from Sis. It matches perfectly with the groovy skulls I found at Village Bead Shop last week. I decided to go for a voodoo theme as skulls and feathers naturally lend themselves in that direction. Well, they do in my brain. In keeping with the movie Skeleton Key, I’ve included a skeleton key, black and gold crosses and my favorite colored faux turquoise colored crystal gem on one earring, and added a silver key and black feather charms to the other earring. These are set off nicely with my skull studs in aged brass and highlighted by the fabulous ring I got from Diva.
