That is how I would describe my busy-ness this weekend.
I have spent most of this weekend putting together and shooting my exciting new range of Pure-ity Rings. Check out these:
After taking my sister’s advice and squashing up the spacing between the words I’m rather happy with how well these rings have turned out.
I had a stroke of genius the other day. At the last-minute I decided to put a different coloured ring around the “border”, for want of a better word, the same size as the cabochon.
I’ve also been trying to get into the habit of almost daily Etsy listing renewals as well as keeping up with my Twitter. My day job has been pretty full on this week so I really had to force myself to not neglect Glamour Twinkles during the week.
This weekend I’ve made a couple of new necklaces, Etsy bound, natch. I’ve used a somewhat simple necklace design that allows me to use my favorite skull and crossbones charms as well as the little guns I ordered a while back.
Enjoy your sneaky preview of Glamour Twinkles Jewelry Pure-ity Rings, they’ll all be available in my Etsy shop very soon.
The colour of love, rage, danger – red speaks to us all over the place. We see red stop lights, red stop signs, we want red hair and those prone to anger see red everywhere.
Instead of seeing red, Glamour Twinkles Jewelry will have you wearing red.
Don’t get mad, get glamoured. Imagine the radical redness of this statement Red Adjustable Beaded Bauble Ring, matched perfectly with the Red Rosebud Gothic Pagoda Earrings.
Amaze!!
During my sisters jaunts to the UK she sent me a link. But not just any old link. It was a link to a bead catalogue. The shop? Only the bestest little bead shop containing the coolest beads in the land Beadworks. She instructed me to go through the shop and choose whatever I wanted and she would get it for me. Naturally I would pay her back when she came up with the goods. So I go on my webby way, clicking and printing out stuff I wanted, and after converting to NZ $, falling to the floor in a financial faint, I trimmed my dream shopping list down to the most special of special beads that I knew I couldn’t get here in EnZed – you know, all of the good ones.
Among my order were some fantastic copper enameled butterfly pendants. Being somewhat of a butterfly fan (not the real insect kind though) I could not resist having these pendants in my stable. When my sister arrived back to the Land of the Long White Cloud and showed me the pendants I noticed, with mild alarm) they were much, muchbigger than I imagined. Too big for me to think of what to do with. And so these pretty little (well, large) pendants sat in their little sealed baggies until I could come up with an idea for using them.
One day, while flipping through Vogue back issues (don’t I sound like a lady of leisure) I noticed a necklace that had a very familiar look to it. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what is was…. oh my goodness. It was an exact replica of the Oriental Butterfly Necklace.
Yes, I blatantly copied someone elses work. What’s more, I’m blogging about it ONLINE! Isn’t imitation the highest form of flattery? No, I’m a big fat copy cat. Or, I’m making something that was once only available to the rarefied Vogue reader available to the normal average gal on the street. You or I for instance. And that, dear reader, is the story Behind the Twinkle.
Truth time: I’ve had these necklaces in my jewelry stable for a while but I love them. I love the juxtaposition of the dainty black chain against the big chain. Hey, what poet laureate hijacked by blog!?
I’m back. These necklaces are actually secretly named after Biggie Smalls. Yep, that is the original true life Behind the Twinkle story to the Gangster in Lil Gangster Necklaces. Now I know the “g” word has negative connotations (dang laureate’s back again) but that is the honest truth behind the gangster label – in this case. One day/night, I was watching some video show, a Biggie vid comes on, he’s wearing humongous (undoubtedly genuine) gold chains. Thus was born the first incantation of the Lil Gangster Necklace.
But it was a little ordinary for me. I found a bunch of black thinner chains that I draped all across the original necklace to “goth it up”, making it look a little bit more like something I want to convey to my market (bugger off business plan girl, being back the laureate).
The ones you see on my Etsy shop are the only ones in the whole world. So you better snap ‘em up before they all gone (sic). Chuckles, oh laureate, you jokester, you.
We use them every day of our lives, but now we can adorn ourselves with them: the humble alphabet. How would we do the crossword? Texting? All great uses for letters. Until now.
Wooden Letter Blocks Ring: created with the idea of children’s letter blocks. I know they’re only small letters and don’t exactly bring toy blocks to mind but that was my thinking as soon as I saw the bag of beads sitting in the bead shop.
Alphabet Rainbow Necklace: I so badly wanted to call these Sesame Street Necklaces. But I didn’t want the wrath of CBS or NBC or whoever brings us the letter T and the number 5. A few years ago a school painted an old toilet block, to brighten it up. They used a terrible looking reproduction of Donald Duck. SOmehow Disney found out and demanded the remove it. Donald has gone. I don’t want Glamour Twinkles to go out like Donald Duck did.
These are my ABC Earrings. They’re bright and colourful and lightweight. I just didn’t have enough ABC’s to make a big bunch of earrings so I started doing EFG earrings as well.
With Alphabet Jewelry you will never be lost for words.

Welcome back to Wednesday’s Behind the Twinkle post, featuring my latest Etsy shop listing – Brown Rosery with White Cloisonné Cross Necklace
I love rosaries. I love the Y-style design, the pretty crystals, the ornate crosses, everything about them. However, I’m not Catholic, and I do feel a little bit guilty calling my latest listings “rosaries”. (Huh, guilt = Catholic, sorry I couldn’t resist) So I’ve called them Rosery – the Rosery That Isn’t a Rosary. As a listing title that is quite a mouthful – and somewhat unnecessary. I’ve tossed and turned over the description for these pieces, and I have around 6 or 7 of them sitting in their sealed plastic baggies waiting for a good home – or neck, as the case may be. But these Rosery’s look so pretty and are a good seller at the craft shows I’ve attended. Just think of the fantastic little story you can tell your friends when you buy this pretty little trinket. But don’t show your children the unintentionally topless mannequin shot. It was the only way to show you the length of the necklace. I gotta do what I gotta do.

Remember those drunken new years resolutions we all made 2 weeks ago? No? Well, this little twinkle remembers and is unveiling one of them now. I present to you my new regular Wednesday post: Behind the Twinkle. See, fulfilled my NYE resolution to do more with my blog.
Latest Listing – Behind the Twinkle
Light Blue Lampwork Gothic Pagoda Earrings
Remember when Jim Carrey did a serious movie and no one liked it? That’s how I’m feeling about the serious nature of this listing description. Where’s my trade mark hilarity? I just really wanted to add them to my shop, something to show for all the behind the scenes work that goes into listings. The mannequin photo shows the earrings at their realistic best but I’ve got plenty of other photos to fill up the rest of the picture boxes – Price US$22.
Red Rosebud Gothic Pagoda Earrings
Ten points if you noticed that this description is virtually the same as the Light Blue Gothic Pagoda Earrings – sans Jim Carrey-like humour. I’m sure Jim C shops at Etsy – Price US$22.

Unbelievable things have been happening in Casa de Twinke, readers. Yesterday I passed up my regular run on the spot/workout to …. wait for it… VACUUM MY APARTMENT. Oh, yeah, its rock and roll! I’m not a very regular vacuumer. I don’t think it’s beneath me, I’m just really lazy when it comes to doing things that I hate.
While vacuuming I decided it was high time to renovate my work space. My work area consists of a long coffee table festooned with dinky little containers filled with all sorts of twinkly charms, pendants, and beads.
I washed the table, cleaned and dusted every container, drawer and bead receptacle I own. I brought out the shiny shine in everything. Temp Cat came in looking somewhat bewildered once the loud scary vacuum had been safely tucked away.
The upshot is that I didn’t get a lot of new exciting jewelry made this weekend but I did finish off the rest of my colourful budget priced necklaces. They were good sellers at Thorndon Fair. You get a sneaky peak at the Tropical Necklaces right here before I load them up on Etsy and Trade Me.
I’ve got a bunch of activities planned for my Xmas holiday break, all Glamour Twinkles Jewelry related, natch. I’ve decided to put a concerted effort into meshing my various online social media applications. For example, (SPOILER ALERT) I’m about to announce on Facebook that I’m planning on making a Glamour Twinkles Jewelry advertising video. I’ll be busy shooting, editing, directing and producing all by myself. Meshing together my Facebook/Twitter/You Tube/Etsy and this blog all in one technological treat. I have no idea how the vid will turn out but it’s kind of fun coming up with ideas for it. Yay me, right?
Welcome to another quickie post. I’ve been a very busy bee this past weekend. I’ve been working on my Etsy shop, getting witty quips into my newest listings which are all waiting to be loaded for your perusal and/or purchase (no pressure). I’m still working on all the darn photos I shot a couple of weeks ago and I’ve somehow managed to enter 12 new items into my Draft Listings list. All they need are their respective photographs and they will be sent on their cyberpath way. I plan to load something every day.
I thought it only fitting to post this via my iPhone and associated WordPress app, since Steve Jobs has slipped this mortal coil. I remember using my very first Apple Mac over 20 years ago. I loved that pc so much. Years later I would purchase my first iPod. Unfortunately I didn’t own any CDs and had to wait until the next day to get a bunch of library CDs to load on my latest gadget.
These photos are courtesy of the Pixlromatic photo app. I figured some revamped photos of my jewelry are the perfect accompaniment to this post.
