Welcome back to Wednesday’s Behind the Twinkle post, featuring my latest Etsy shop listing – Brown Rosery with White Cloisonné Cross Necklace
I love rosaries. I love the Y-style design, the pretty crystals, the ornate crosses, everything about them. However, I’m not Catholic, and I do feel a little bit guilty calling my latest listings “rosaries”. (Huh, guilt = Catholic, sorry I couldn’t resist) So I’ve called them Rosery – the Rosery That Isn’t a Rosary. As a listing title that is quite a mouthful – and somewhat unnecessary. I’ve tossed and turned over the description for these pieces, and I have around 6 or 7 of them sitting in their sealed plastic baggies waiting for a good home – or neck, as the case may be. But these Rosery’s look so pretty and are a good seller at the craft shows I’ve attended. Just think of the fantastic little story you can tell your friends when you buy this pretty little trinket. But don’t show your children the unintentionally topless mannequin shot. It was the only way to show you the length of the necklace. I gotta do what I gotta do.

It’s soooooooo hot and humid here in Wellington … I’m sticky and boofy-haired and sick of humidity invading everything. Go away, already!
I wanted to do a lovely post having one of my patented carefully posed but oddly casual-looking photo with my “just applied” make up and my nicely straightened hair but no, the humidity just won’t quit! So I thought I’d do a boofy-haired post cos I keep moaning about the relentless humidity on Twitter and I didn’t want my WordPress readers to miss out.
So onwards: the jewelry adorning my sticky neck is an old Rosary with an ornate but sadly uncared for crucifix cross. I’ve “converted” it into a lavender choker and it goes nicely with my bright purple often-worn cardigan from Glassons. The earrings are from the mysterious but often mentioned, Sis.
My hair has not seen any coloring for the past month which is rather incredible for me. I can’t decide if I want to keep dyeing it red only to have the color rinse out every time I wash it, or if I go back to the purples which are much more colourfast so-to-speak. As it’s long overdue for a regrowth bleach, I’ll need to make up my mind in the next couple of weeks. You see my hair is suprisingly damaged (no, seriously?) and in order to recolour it purple I’d have to bleach out the red. Yes, tricky situation I know. I’m leaning towards staying red until I’ve used up the color I’ve got and then go back to the familiar purple that I’ve sported for a number of years. Naturally, I’ll need to get the charred remains of my hair cut so I can start ruining the new growth underneath. I’ll keep you posted on these increasingly earth shattering issues occupying my busy mind in these happy times. Oh and as I’m going to be on Xmas leave until mid January 2011 and won’t need to apply my daily layer of warpaint for my 9-5 office job in the concrete jungle, I’ve got a number of alternative “jewelry I wore” blog posts coming up.
