It’s soooooooo hot and humid here in Wellington … I’m sticky and boofy-haired and sick of humidity invading everything. Go away, already!
I wanted to do a lovely post having one of my patented carefully posed but oddly casual-looking photo with my “just applied” make up and my nicely straightened hair but no, the humidity just won’t quit! So I thought I’d do a boofy-haired post cos I keep moaning about the relentless humidity on Twitter and I didn’t want my WordPress readers to miss out.
So onwards: the jewelry adorning my sticky neck is an old Rosary with an ornate but sadly uncared for crucifix cross. I’ve “converted” it into a lavender choker and it goes nicely with my bright purple often-worn cardigan from Glassons. The earrings are from the mysterious but often mentioned, Sis.

My hair has not seen any coloring for the past month which is rather incredible for me. I can’t decide if I want to keep dyeing it red only to have the color rinse out every time I wash it, or if I go back to the purples which are much more colourfast so-to-speak. As it’s long overdue for a regrowth bleach, I’ll need to make up my mind in the next couple of weeks. You see my hair is suprisingly damaged (no, seriously?) and in order to recolour it purple I’d have to bleach out the red. Yes, tricky situation I know. I’m leaning towards staying red until I’ve used up the color I’ve got and then go back to the familiar purple that I’ve sported for a number of years. Naturally, I’ll need to get the charred remains of my hair cut so I can start ruining the new growth underneath. I’ll keep you posted on these increasingly earth shattering issues occupying my busy mind in these happy times. Oh and as I’m going to be on Xmas leave until mid January 2011 and won’t need to apply my daily layer of warpaint for my 9-5 office job in the concrete jungle, I’ve got a number of alternative “jewelry I wore” blog posts coming up.

Glamorous Bookmarks by Glamour Twinkles

As I rifled through my beads this morning I had the idea of making some super luxe bookmarks using these silver bookmarks I bought at Village Beads a very long while ago.

Glamorous Bookmarks in action by Glamour Twinkles

I found the fabulous green faceted glass bead in my vast bead collection and after much swapping and alternating with other suitably fabulous beads, I finally decided on the above design in green. So inspired, I made a couple more as seen in the top picture. Naturally, I’m going to get a few more of these quirky-looking bookmarks and purchase some large sumptuous faceted glass beads so I can create a range of Glamour Twinkles Luxe Bookmarks for selling online. I’ll Tweet on my progress and availability.

Yellow & Blue Floral Tassel Earrings back on Etsy

Super busy and productive day today. After letting my Etsy listings lapse and disappear from my shop I had to relaunch everything. But I’ve learned some lessons on the way.

Every day I get an email from the Etsy team that is choc full of great selling and promotion tips. And I save them for later, completely missing the important tips and priceless information they impart. Now I have a new attitude. I have revamped my Etsy profile, the profile pic which now contains a clear shot of an example of my jewelry, I have much better descriptions and my new attitude also contains a (kind of) business action sheet whereby I load something onto my shop each and every day (or possibly every few days) I haven’t quite decided.

I’ve managed to have regular blog posts which I get done with the minimum of inconvenience. Now I need to get Etsy updated regularly also with the minimum of inconvenience to me. As essentially, I am a rather lazy gal!

Swarovksi Tiger Potion Necklace back on Etsy

And a cheery welcome to Ma who’s reading my blog on her “cellular telephonic device” – yaaaaaaay!  And in Twitter news I hadn’t had any new followers for a couple of days when I received an email telling me that Chictopia is following me. Now I do realise that they won’t be reading my sometimes inane tweets but I’ve got proof they’re following:

New Twitter follower – Chictopia

And if you don’t know what Chictopia is they’re now on my blogroll.  Gotta love technology when it all works well!

This week I worked on my Native American inspired feather necklace. It was originally going to be a line of feather and cloisonné earrings but there was something “not quite right” about them. Instead of pulling them apart I decided to put them aside until I could think of a way to give them a “Wow Factor”. I hung them on a gold necklace and sat them on a necklace display bust and it was my sister who said they’d look great as a necklace and et voilà. The Feather Necklace by Glamour Twinkles is here for your approval. Or not. I like it.

Glamour Twinkles – Over and Out

I’ve been checking out some of the other WordPress blogs and I noticed that people write much more regularly than I do and I’m slightly envious of my co-bloggers.  My blogging regularity is somewhat haphazard.  I do realise this blog doesn’t exactly get read by millions but I do like the fact that anyone could read this  (Hello you, welcome).  The thing is, once I finish my office gal by day job and get home, the LAST thing I want to do is sit down at my pc and rattle off some admittedly hilarious blogs.  So I’ve been thinking of ways to blog on MY own terms and it hit me – I can BLOG while I JOG!  Every night I hit the gym for a workout which includes half an hour on the treadmill.  So I can blog while I jog AND I do this on my darling BlackBerry Curve and update my imaginary readers on what I’ve been doing from a creative point of view.

So, this week, while perusing the Daily Mail’s online edition (sic) I read about a 12-year-old blogger that has supposedly taken the fashion world by storm, through her blog.  This 5-minute-fashion-darling DOES regularly blog AND attend fashion shows AND has nobodies like me reading about her in the Daily Mail’s cyber newspaper (my fav daily news fix).   Don’t get me wrong, fashion is F*A*B but the photos of this young lady dressed in her designer duds reminded me of a little girl playing dress up in designer  fashions.  And fashionites are seemingly (or seamingly) hanging on her every word, which I found strange.   To her credit, there were photos of her with Anna Wintour, and Anna doesn’t strike me as the take-a-picture-of-us-together type.   I’m putting my shock at this fashion situation down to jealousy over blogger success.   I do tend to read the Daily Mail  for the rather snarky remarks made by the staff on their online edition.

I recently watched a news item on the amount of personal information/photos people post on facebook or Twitter and how potential employers can get hold of these sometimes embarrassing items.   The news story noted that compromising photos of people have reached potential employers and may have cost them future employment.  It also made me think about what kind of info I post.  However, this blog is about generally about jewellery so I can’t really get in trouble. Unless I’m too creative? Chuckles.  I do keep in mind that this IS the internet and anyone can read this and use it as they wish, so the lesson to learn is this: don’t take photos of drunken debauchery and don’t write postings in anger.

Tweets to the Tweet

As if my life wasn’t technological enough with my BlackBerry Curve, my Palm Pilot TX and my HP PC, I HAD to go and get a … TWITTER account. Yes, I know, I never thought I’d need one but – gotta say – I kind like it!? I even have followers. Ooo, check me out – talking all Twitt-like. I do only have 3 followers but that’s 3 more than I had last week. It’s a positive. So, a big HOWDO to my new followers, which I’m SOOO sure are reading right now.

Blue Bubble Charm Bracelet

Last weekend was day lite savings which always confuses me.  One hour back, Spring forward, fall back?!? Anyhoo, I went to bed at 2.00am or possibly 3.00am and then I slept in – I HATE THAT! Bizarrely, I like to get up at 5.00am during the weekend.  That’s Glamour Twinkles creation time. So, I had an idea for a bracelet that I was going to work on, had I gotten up at Creation Time. Strangely enough I jumped out of bed at 10:00 (or possibly 9:00am) and, after coffee and cigarette, I made the bracelet in record time.  I like it, the photo’s don’t really show what it looks like when you’re wearing it, but I’m not a hand model.  Anyway, that’s what I’ve been doing.  My Twitter account is all set up and you can check it out.  I still can’t believe I have one, and I’m using it too.  My sister is a very convincing convincer!

Thank you for your attention
